Just like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.sg\/blog\/singapore-opens-borders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Singapore\u2019s Vaccinated Travel Lane<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.co.th\/blog\/thailand-finally-opens-up-to-quarantine-free-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thailand\u2019s quarantine-free travel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-59063818\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the UK<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has joined the list of countries who are relaxing their borders, welcoming travellers, and learning to live with COVID-19. But it won\u2019t be the case of getting your passports ready, applying for a visa (if you need it), booking flights and heading to the airport. Chances are you\u2019ll need to look up vaccination requirements, testing requirements and more. In this <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pacific Prime UK<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> article, we\u2019ll give you the full low down about the UK\u2019s COVID-19 entry requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0; clear: both;'>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.co.uk\/compare-quotes\/step-one\/?campSource=PPUK-Blog&utm_source=blog&utm_medium=content_banner&utm_campaign=banner&utm_content=single\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-774\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pacificprime.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/PPUK-blog-banners-1138x493-px_02-03.jpg?resize=700%2C303&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Individual health insurance blog\" width=\"700\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/div>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UK\u2019s traffic light system: Green, amber and red list\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the UK decided to control its border to limit the spread of COVID-19, the country put in place <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lexology.com\/library\/detail.aspx?g=7cbce789-df5e-4f8f-b597-6549cf7f924d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a traffic light system for travellers.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Put simply, this is a list that categorises countries into green, amber or red countries depending on the situation in said country. Accordingly, travellers entering the UK had to follow different rules depending on whether they\u2019ve been in a Green, Amber or Red list country in the past 10 days prior to entering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green and Amber list arrivals had to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test and an on-arrival COVID-19 test (on or before Day 2 for Green list; on or before Day 2<\/span><strong> and<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on or after Day 8 for Amber list). While Green list arrivals didn\u2019t need to quarantine unless they or someone they travelled with tested positive, Amber list arrivals had to quarantine at home for 10 days. However, they were able to end quarantine early if they paid for a private COVID-19 test through the test-to-release scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for Red list countries, entry was strictly limited to UK nationals, Irish nationals, and those with residence rights in the UK. Just like Green and Amber list arrivals, Red list arrivals had to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test. However, Red list arrivals were also required to book a quarantine hotel package (including two COVID-19 tests for Day 2 and Day 8).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever since this traffic light system was put into place, the UK has made updates to the system in order to simplify the process for travellers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amber list scrapped<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-58783591\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amber list was scrapped altogether<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Countries were classified as either Green or Red list countries. There were also modified rules introduced for fully-vaccinated travellers from Green list countries, which this article will elaborate on in the next section.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Countries taken off the red list\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secondly, countries were gradually removed from the Red list as vaccination rates picked up. The final Red list contained 7 countries. On November 1st, it was announced that these remaining <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-59063818\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">countries will also be taken off the Red list<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Red list system will be kept in place and a country could be added back on it if cases rise there.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approved vaccines for entry to the UK<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So now that COVID-19 vaccination rates are picking up worldwide, you might be wondering: \u201cWhat exemptions do fully-vaccinated arrivals get in the UK\u201d? However, you should first ask the question: \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/countries-with-approved-covid-19-vaccination-programmes-and-proof-of-vaccination#:~:text=or%20certificate%20issuer-,Countries%20with%20an%20approved,of%20proof%20of%20vaccination.,-If%20you%20were\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What vaccines are accepted in the UK<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d? This is because not all vaccines are recognised, so the exemptions will only be given to travellers who meet the following vaccination requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before travelling from an approved programme in one of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/countries-with-approved-covid-19-vaccination-programmes-and-proof-of-vaccination#:~:text=or%20certificate%20issuer-,Countries%20with%20an%20approved,of%20proof%20of%20vaccination.,-If%20you%20were\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">these countries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and have the proof required, which varies depending on the country. For example, NHS COVID Pass, EU Digital COVID Certificate, a vaccine certificate, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must have had either Oxford\/AstraZeneca (two doses), Pfizer BioNTech (two doses), Moderna (two doses) or Janssen (one dose). Formulations of these vaccines, such as AstraZeneca Covishield, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda, also qualify as approved vaccines.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>As of November 22nd,\u00a0 World Health Organization\u2019s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) vaccines are also approved, namely,\u00a0 Sinovac,<br \/>\nSinopharm Beijing, and Covaxin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entry requirements based on vaccination status in the UK<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Depending on your vaccination status in the UK, you\u2019ll have to follow <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">different entry requirements<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fully vaccinated travellers must take a COVID-19 test on or before Day 2 of arrival using either a PCR or lateral flow test. A 10-day home quarantine will only be required for those who test positive. <strong>Note that all under 18s coming to England will be treated as fully vaccinated travellers at the border.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unvaccinated travellers must take a pre-departure COVID-19 test, a COVID-19 test on Day 2 and Day 8 of arrival and do a 10-day home quarantine.
